It's going to get hot over the next few months but what a fabulous time of year for perennials and flowering plants!
Set aside a border for masses of Inca Alstroemerias. You will be so pleased you did! Right now Alstroemerias are in the Garden Centres and in full bloom. Incas are medium height Alstroemerias. This means they are good both for the garden (ie they don’t fall over and get messy) and for cutting (stems are long enough for the vase) If you plan, you can grow heaps and cut bouquets for your friends birthdays! Wrap in colourful papers and they will think you are marvelous!! And they are a FREE gift over and over again! Key ones to grow are: Inca Pulse (highly recommended fluoro red) Inca Ice (wonderful mass of blooms) Inca Exotica (vibrant yellow with red accents) Inca Glow (charming clear pink with blue foliage) and Inca Adore (lovely pink-red with masses of flowers). For oranges you could try Inca Tropic or the variegated Inca Mardi Gras Click here for our flier
Yes we have some absolute stunners and very different! Look at Viola ‘Heart Throb’ a ground cover Viola grown for it’s foliage not it’s flower (though it does produce violets too) or if you are a Delphinium lover, the Highlander ‘Super double ‘ Delphiniums including ‘Sweet Sensation’ but be warned these are rare, it will take us a couple of years to be able to catch up with demand. If you have one, nurture it and feel privileged! Heuchera ‘Amethyst Myst’ is again on the market, a gorgeous massive veined clump and another of those lovely colourful Heucheras! Plant it and they will come. They will also drool and shower you with complements on your gardening skills!! And you know the best part? The Federation Daisies are so easy to grow a child could do it (seriously!) The range is too huge to mention all of them but I love ‘Sunrise Rose’ and ‘Summit Pink’ and the new ‘Crazy Daisies’ Have to be seen to be believed for flower performance! Please do water them and mulch though fo stop ‘droop’ in the summer months! Click here for our flier
Go to your garden centre and make your garden ‘hot’ this summer!
